Bicycling is an increasingly popular mode of transportation across Ontario. Bike Month 2016 is being celebrated this year between May 30th and June 30th with a number of campaigns and events. We encourage you to get involved with events in your area and help spread the word!
We have already have had a great deal of success across the province but especially in Brampton. Bike to Work Day on Monday May 30th had many participants in along with Bike to School Week that week in celebration of cycling and active transportation with the goal of increasing the number of children who bike to school. Students throughout the Region of Peel and Brampton Springdale participated in large numbers with prizes rewarded for registered participants of the Walk And Roll initiative by the Region of Peel.
Many other events have taken place including Bramalea Cycle Fest that started at the All Peoples Church and others that are planned such as those organized by Bike Brampton including the ‘Biking Builds Communities; interactive sessions taking place at 5 libraries around the city.
Next weekend, Bike Brampton is hosting ‘Bike the Creek’ on June 18 where participants will be able to explore the natural beauty and heritage of Brampton and Caledon.
“I am proud of all the participants encouraging others in the community to get active and participate in healthy living. Bike month is a great way to get started to promote healthy living.”
- MPP Harinder Malhi, Brampton-Springdale
